Abby (1974)
A possession film about a marriage counselor who becomes possessed by a Demon of Sexuality, when her father in law an Exorcist, freed it while in Africa. He returns home, along with his son and a policeman to perform an African Exorcism on her.

Abominable Dr. Phibes, The (1971)
Doctors are being murdered in a bizarre manner which represent the nine Biblical plagues. The crimes are orchestrated by a demented organ player with the help of his mute assistant. The detective is stumped until he finds that all of the doctors being killed assisted a Dr. Vesalius on an unsuccessful operation involving the wife of Dr. Phibes, but he couldn't be the culprit, could he? He was killed in a car crash...

Absolution (1978)
At a Catholic public school, Benjamin Stanfield plays a practical joke on his form master Father Goddard. In confession, he tells him that he has accidentally murdered his friend and buried him in the forest. When Goddard investigates, he finds a buried scarecrow. He is outraged, but cannot expel Stanfield. Shortly after, Stanfield again enters the booth, telling Goddard that what before was a practical joke, he has now made happen.

Alien (1979)
When commercial towing vehicle Nostromo, heading back to Earth, intercepts an SOS from a nearby planet, the crew are obliged to investigate. At the same time as they discover a hive colony of some unknown creature, the ship's computer deciphers the SOS to be a warning. When one of the eggs is disturbed, the crew don't know the danger they are in until it is too late.

Asphyx, The (1973)
A Victorian scientist and his assistant discover that everybody has a death spirit, the "asphyx". If it can be caught, immortality follows! The scientist captures his own. When he experiments, he accidentally kills his daughter. The assistant, his daughter's fiancé, commits suicide. The scientist, wanting to die with them, tries to free his asphyx, but has forgotten the cipher code to the safe in which the spirit is kept.
