	Abby (1974) A possession film about a marriage counselor who becomes possessed by a Demon of Sexuality, when her father in law an Exorcist, freed it while in Africa. He returns home, along with his son and a policeman to perform an African Exorcism on her. Directed by William Girdler. Starring William Marshall, Carol Speed, Austin Stoker.
	Abominable Dr. Phibes, The (1971) Doctors are being murdered in a bizarre manner which represent the nine Biblical plagues. The crimes are orchestrated by a demented organ player with the help of his mute assistant. The detective is stumped until he finds that all of the doctors being killed assisted a Dr. Vesalius on an unsuccessful operation involving the wife of Dr. Phibes, but he couldn't be the culprit, could he? He was killed in a car crash... Directed by Robert Fuest. Starring Vincent Price, Joseph Cotton, Terry-Thomas.
	Absolution (1978) At a Catholic public school, Benjamin Stanfield plays a practical joke on his form master Father Goddard. In confession, he tells him that he has accidentally murdered his friend and buried him in the forest. When Goddard investigates, he finds a buried scarecrow. He is outraged, but cannot expel Stanfield. Shortly after, Stanfield again enters the booth, telling Goddard that what before was a practical joke, he has now made happen. Directed by Anthony Page. Starring Richard Burton, Dominic Guard, Billy Connolly.
	Alien (1979) When commercial towing vehicle Nostromo, heading back to Earth, intercepts an SOS from a nearby planet, the crew are obliged to investigate. At the same time as they discover a hive colony of some unknown creature, the ship's computer deciphers the SOS to be a warning. When one of the eggs is disturbed, the crew don't know the danger they are in until it is too late. Directed by Ridley Scott. Starring Sigourney Weaver, John Hurt, Tom Skerritt.
	Amityville Horror, The (1979) George and Kathy Lutz, a newly married couple with three children, move into their beautiful new house in Amityville, New York, only to discover the house already has demonic inhabitants. Based on a true story. Directed by Stuart Rosenberg. Starring James Brolin, Margot Kidder, Rod Steiger.
	And Now The Screaming Starts (1973) England 1795: the young Catherine just married Charles Fengriffen and moves into his castle. She becomes victim of an old curse that lays on the family. In her wedding night she's raped by a ghost and gets pregnant. An Amicus Horror Film. Directed by Roy Ward Baker. Starring Peter Cushing, Herbert Lom, Stephanie Beacham.
	And Soon the Darkness (1970) Two English girls take a cycling holiday in France. However, they become separated on an infamous stretch of road, where a mad killer abducts and kills Cathy. Jane meanwhile, is left isolated and frightened and doesn't know who to trust. Directed by Robert Fuest. Starring Pamela Franklin, Michele Dotrice, Sandor Eles.
	Asphyx, The (1973) A Victorian scientist and his assistant discover that everybody has a death spirit, the "asphyx". If it can be caught, immortality follows! The scientist captures his own. When he experiments, he accidentally kills his daughter. The assistant, his daughter's fiancé, commits suicide. The scientist, wanting to die with them, tries to free his asphyx, but has forgotten the cipher code to the safe in which the spirit is kept. Directed by Peter Newbrook. Starring Robert Stephens, Robert Powell, Jane Lapotaire.
	Asylum (1972) A young psychiatrist interviews four inmates in a mental asylum to satisfy a requirement for employment. He hears stories about 1) the revenge of a murdered wife, 2) a tailor who makes a suit with highly unusual qualities, 3) a woman who questions her sanity when it appears that her brother is conspiring against her, and 4) a man who builds tiny toy robots with lifelike human heads. An Amicus Horror Film. Directed by Roy Ward Baker Starring Peter Cushing, Robert Powell, Britt Ekland.
	Asylum of Satan (1975) A young woman is held against her will in a mental asylum run by the sinister Dr. Specter and his assistant, Martine. She begins to suspect that the visions she has are not nightmares and that she is due to be sacrificed to Satan. Directed by William Girdler Starring Charles Kissinger, Nick Jolley, Carla Borelli.
	Audrey Rose (1977) A New York couple experience bizarre, stalker-like behavior from an English stranger. While they attempt to bar him from their lives, he slides his way in anyway and tries to convince them that their 11-year-old girl is the reincarnation of his 11-years-departed daughter, Audrey Rose. Directed by Robert Wise. Starring Marsha Mason, Anthony Hopkins, John Beck.
